I. International Education and Consulting
Founder, College Consortium on International Studies, a federation of 95
colleges that provides study abroad opportunities to 4,000 students annually
in 30 countries.
Founder, Rockland Community College Office of International Studies and
its International College, which organize the college's study-abroad programs
in some 20 countries, offer technical assistance to schools and colleges
abroad, receive and place foreign students, and create curricula incorporating
international themes.
Founder, International/Intercultural Consortium of the American Association
of Community and Junior Colleges; chairman of its Advisory Committee; member
of its Curriculum Committee.
Founder, International Services Association of the Community Colleges of
the State University of New York.
Founder and Director, Center for Study in Israel.
Consultant to the International Division of the Association of American
Publishers and to publishing companies including Prentice Hall, Inc., harcourt
brace jovanovich, Inc., and John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
Consultant to the Canadian Community College Association on its international
program.
Founder, North American International Baccalaureate Degree Committee; helped
to bring the International Baccalaureate to the U.S.
Principal Lecturer, United States Information Agencies Seminars on community
college education, given in five Indian states in 1975. Returned in 1979
under sponsorship of U.S. Fulbright Commission to lecture in four Indian
states and to conduct major international conference on community-based
education in New Delhi. In 1982, returned under auspices of Asia Foundation
to plan vocational education programs.
Community college expert on team of U.S. educators sent by U.S. Department
of State to address U.S. and indigenous education advisors of twenty-two
African nations in Kenya, 1974.
U.S. Representative to 1978 UNESCO Symposium on Contributions of Higher
Education to Community Development.
Chairman, International Student Committee, Association of Colleges and Universities
of the State of New York.
Member, Advisory Committee to the Council on Learning's major study of international
education in the U.S.
Lecturer and consultant to Ministries of Education and colleges and universities

Lecturer and consultant on aspects of the community college at conferences
held at colleges and universities throughout the United States. Topics have
included: nontraditional programs and clienteles; open learning systems
and instructional technology; community service; general and liberal studies;
international programs for U.S. and foreign students.

Member and chairperson of commissions and task forces of the AACJC, the
American Council on Education, the Council on Learning, and other professional

Consultant to the U.S.I.A., the International Communications Agency, the

III. Regional, State, and Community Service
Member, Chancellor's Council of Presidents, State University of New York,
an organization of two- and four-year college presidents assisting in the
formulation and evaluation of policy for the State University.
President, Association of Community College Presidents of New York State.
Member, Board of Directors, New York State Association of Junior Colleges,
representing private as well as public two-year colleges.
Member, New York State Commission on Two/Four Year College Relations, formed
by the State Department of Education to develop the first two/four year
college transfer politicies.
Member, Commission on College Proficiency Examinations, which created the
College Proficiency Examination Program of SUNY.
Adjunct Professor of Higher Education, New York University, Rutgers University.
Chairman, Special Task Force of the Association of Colleges and Universities
of the State of New York (ACUSNY), representing public and private two-
and four-year colleges in their initiatives to increase out-of-state and
foreign student enrollments in New York State.

PUBLICATIONS
Guide to the Two-Year Colleges, published by Barron's Educational Series
from 1960-1970, presented basic data on more than 800 community and junior
colleges and technical institutes as well as counseling on college and career
choice. the Guide was widely used by high school and college guidance offices,
other counseling agencies, and by parents and students.
Many articles, monographs, conference presentations, and other materials on community college development, nontraditional
pedagogies, and international education.
